Girls’ Touch Triumph over double winnings on NUS 6v6 Touch’07.
On a Sunday, 21st October 2007, Team Republic sent two Touch Rugby Girls’ Teams, comprising of seniors and juniors who are great enthusiastic to the sport, to participate in the NUS 6v6 Women Touch Carnival 2007.
The teams consisted of:
RP Pixies – Annabel Woo Xue Ni Bernadette, Narene Yong, Suryanti Suryono, Siti NurAzyan, Laura Ann, Cheryl Ann, Kylie Yong Su Mei and Khoo Min Hui led by Dilys Goh Xiu Lin
RP Phoenix – Eunice Ng Yee Yong, Agnes Wijaya, Yong Shan Ning, Cheryl Choy Li Yun, Koh HuiMin, Denise Ang Hui Min, Eunice Chu Jia Hui, Claudia Jeanette and Zarifah Bte Zulkifli led by Ma Aye Wathone Oo.

Both teams met competitive and strong opponent teams from National University of Singapore (NUS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Temasek Polytechnic (TP), Raffles Junior College (RJC) and more. With more wins than losses, both teams qualified for the Semi-Finals.
RP Pixies met NUS in the Semi-Finals and with a draw; and they played a drop off game. With great playmaking skills, teamwork and a double team by Suryanti Suryono and Annabel Woo created an opportunity for Annabel Woo to have the winning try that put RP Pixies into the finals. While RP Phoenix met arch rival TP in the Semi-Finals, with great desire and determination to win that important match, the team played really well and Ma Aye Wathone Oo scored at the last minute.
“After Su passed me the ball, I ran for my life because I really wanted to beat NUS,” said Annabel Woo, after that spectacular run to the try-line.
So RP Pixies and RP Phoenix met in the Finals. With no hard feelings, both teams played at their best and Koh HuiMin brought a try to RP Phoenix giving them the lead. The final whistle was blown and RP Phoenix emerged as Champions followed by RP Pixies as 1st Runner-Up.
Wiping off the medals on the table, the girls were triumph over their double winnings on NUS 6v6 Touch’07. This carnival had brought both teams experience and a higher level of game play; also it was a preparation to our upcoming IVP. It was also a great exposure to our juniors.
